Hotel Sanders - Copenhagen

H O T E L S A N D E R S

Copenhagen is certainly one of the world’s capitals of design, as well as the epicentre of hygge — that indefinable cosiness that’s become the hallmark of Nordic hospitality. Among the hotels that are changing that, however, is the Sanders, a 54-room luxury boutique hotel owned and operated by the celebrated Danish ballet dancer Alexander Kølpin. A hotel that is both cosy and modern, both contemporary and nostalgic, and blending lush comforts with moody atmospherics and everywhere embellishing the impeccably stylish spaces with little visual surprises. Also impressive are the public spaces, from the Kitchen restaurant and Tata cocktail bar to the Conservatory, on the rooftop. And you’re by no means limited to what’s within the walls of the hotel — the service concept here is “a curated stay,” which means the staff are full of ideas (and connections) for creating your ideal Copenhagen experience.

Hotel Sanders is very central but tucked behind the Royal Danish Theatre on a quiet street. Kongens Nytorv metro station is just a few minutes away, making it a quick and easy transfer from the airport, and it’s perfectly placed for walking to all the main tourist attractions, including the pretty canal of Nyhavn and the shopping street of Strøget. The lovely Hotel Sanders does welcome dogs, but says themselves that the hotel is not suited for longer stays with a dog.

Where to go: The area is cosy and quite central which also makes it a bit hectic. But only a few minutes away you will reach the waterfront and endless miles to walk and meet other dogs. For green areas to catch a good run, you need a car and go to Kastellet, Amager Strandpark, Bernstorffsparken or Valbyparken.

Allowed areas: Dogs are restricted to bedrooms and are not permitted in any public areas in the hotel.

Size n’ shape: At Hotel Sanders dogs of maximum 20 kg are welcome - We think this is quite decent for a hotel with no outdoor space and cosy rooms. Always get a confirmation and acceptance to bring your dog when booking your stay.

Room amenities: No amenities are offered.

Great for: Hotel Sanders is great for shorter stays with your dog. Dogs are not allowed to be left alone in your room in a longer period.

Accommodation fee: Dogs can stay here for a 135€ / 1000 dkk fee per night.

Dog loving or friendly? Dog Friendly - nothing more, nothing less.

Other? The food, the vibe and the feeling is amazing at this hotel.

If you ask us: Make sure your dog is trained, well behaved, calm and travel-savvy when bring him/her to a hotel stay. For the stress-free experience.

Last tip: To avoid unpleasant surprises for both your dog and the hotel staff, always use the “Do not disturb” sign when leaving your dog alone in the room, even for 5 minutes.

One Rhonda: Suitable for 1-2 night with a dog. A wonderful stay when transiting to your final destination.

Two Rhondas: Suitable for up to 5 nights with a dog. A place worth staying for a weekend or a couple of amazing days.

Three Rhondas: A destination in itself and suitable for a longer holiday length - Where dogs are as welcome as any other guest in the hotel.
